2024 Participating Teams
-
Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust
Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust is a registered community housing provider, an affordable rental provider and a registered Progressive Home Ownership provider that supports people into affordable housing. Investigating installing solar and selling to the grid, possibly storing on site for use when needed by the grid
-
The Green Lab
The Green Lab creates urban green spaces that support strong social connections and promote wellbeing in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
-
Te Oraka, Shirley Intermediate School Pool Reactivation Project
A collective of 12 local organisations working together to get the remaining local school pool back up and running as a community asset fully utilised through as much of the year as possible. Exploring best long term choices around power supply, heating system, covering options and any other factors that support energy efficiency for the pool.
-
Nōku Te Ao Charitable Trust - Te Pā o Rākaihautū
Designing a 21st Century Learning Village at two sites (Banks Peninsula & Linwood) to be self-sufficient with renewable and clean energy technologies, including agri-voltaic, and looking to supply back to the grid to generate returns.
-
Lyttelton Energy Transition Society (LETS)
A more resilient Lyttelton with their own micro grid and as many roofs as possible feeding into a grid that shares power with residents who struggle to afford power and those that are too shaded to have their own systems. A Resilience Hub at the Lyttelton Recreation Centre with a solar installation and battery system. (and potentially other spaces).
-
Papanui Youth Development Trust
A Youth Centre at heart, since 2007 they have strived to positively encourage the young people and families of our area and beyond to be all they can be through incredible programmes and events designed to develop every young person and enable them to realise their potential. Exploring rooftop solar and electric bikes for youth workers
-
Christchurch Community House
Ōtautahi Christchurch’s co-working hub for non-profits and impact-led organisations is more than just a workspace—it’s a community. Exploring rooftop solar to lower costs for community group tenants.
-
Castle Hill Community Energy Project
Exploring solar and potential storage solutions to meet the following objectives:
An off-grid, low carbon solution to support Castle Hill Village emergency response and recovery in the event of a disaster.
Reducing/offsetting the carbon emissions of the Village and its associated infrastructure (e.g. fresh water and waste water treatment).
Assessment of the feasibility of a “Virtual Power Plant” with grid stabilisation capabilities.
-
Oxford Community Hub for Resilient Energy
Exploring a solar micro-farm with battery storage as a way to provide (a) energy resilience to the community in the event of power disruption and (b) surplus energy to donate to those in energy hardship.
